What is RAM? Definition Of  RAM.

Random Access Memory (RAM) is a computing device in which the data is kept in the operating system (OS), application program and current usage so that it can be accessed quickly through the device processor. RAM is the main memory in a computer, and it is very fast to read and write with other types of storage such as hard disk drive (HDD), solid-state drive (SSD) or optical drive.

Random access memory is unstable. This means that the data is retained in the RAM as long as the computer is running, but it is lost when the computer is switched off. When the computer is rebooted, the OS and other files are usually reloaded from RAM with HDD or SSD.

A computer also works like this. If RAM is filled up, then the computer processor should go to the hard disk repeatedly to overlay the old data in the RAM with the new data. This process slows down the operation of the computer.
